When to Book Your Lash Infill (and Why Timing Is Everything)

Why infills matter

Your lash extensions don’t all fall out at once — each one is attached to a natural lash, which naturally sheds every 6–8 weeks. As new lashes grow, gaps start to appear, and that’s when infills come in. Infills keep your set looking full and balanced without needing a brand-new full set every time.

Think of them as your lash “maintenance appointment” — a quick refresh to keep your extensions perfectly even and healthy.

How often should you come in?

Most clients find their lashes look best when infilled every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on their natural lash cycle, lifestyle, and aftercare routine. Here’s a simple guide:

  • Express Infill (45 mins) → Booked within 1–2 weeks. Great for a quick tidy-up between regular appointments.

  • Standard Infill (60 mins) → Booked within 2–3 weeks. Perfect for maintaining fullness and shape.

  • Extended Infill (75 mins) → Booked within 3–4 weeks. Ideal for those with slower lash growth or who want extra fullness.

If it’s been longer than 4 weeks or you have less than 50% of your lashes remaining, your next appointment will be considered a new full set.

What happens if you wait too long?

Delaying your infill might sound harmless, but it can actually affect your lash health and the final look of your set. Waiting too long means:

  • More gaps and unevenness

  • Extra time and product needed to rebalance the set

  • Possible twisting or drooping of old extensions as natural lashes shed

In some cases, your lash artist will need to remove and reapply a fresh set to maintain safety and quality.

How to tell when you need an infill

If you look in the mirror and see uneven lashes, noticeable gaps, or if your extensions start to feel lighter or sparser — it’s infill time. As a rule of thumb, if you can count your remaining lashes, you’ve waited too long!

Tips to make your infills last longer

  • Clean your lashes daily to prevent oil and buildup.

  • Brush them gently to avoid tangling.

  • Sleep on your back when possible.

  • Avoid oils and waterproof makeup near your eyes.

These small habits can make a big difference in retention and lash health between appointments.

Final thoughts

Infills aren’t just about keeping your lashes looking lush — they’re about keeping them healthy and balanced. Regular maintenance means less shedding, longer wear, and a more comfortable, flawless set.
